Located on the dramatic headland of Ponta de Sagres, the Sagres Fortress is one of the Algarve's most iconic landmarks. Vila do Bispo Museum – Storehouse of History opened in January 2024, breathing new life into the former building of the Vila do Bispo Granaries, built in the 1950s to serve the local wheat producers.  After 70 years, the granary, which was owned by the now defunct National Federation of Wheat Producers, has been turned into a Storehouse of History in order to take on a new role, as a museum, a forum for the local community, a venue for welcoming people who visit the municipality of Vila do Bispo and as a repository for its heritage, its collective memory and its people. This inclusive, participatory project, by everyone and for everyone, tells the history of the area, which also includes its industrial past in the agriculture sector, a time when Vila do Bispo was known as the “granary of the Algarve” as part of the “Wheat Campaign” strategy initiated by the Estado Novo government in 1929.

Cape St. Vincent, located in the extreme southwest of mainland Portugal, in the Algarve region, is one of the country’s most iconic and historically rich landmarks. Rising majestically above the Atlantic Ocean, this promontory has been an important landmark for both navigators and Portuguese culture for centuries. Its strategic location, where the turbulent waters of the Atlantic meet the tranquility of the Mediterranean, gave it a crucial role in the age of Portuguese discovery and continues to be a point of interest for tourists and scholars alike.
